What can Airbag be used?

  Uninflated cylindrical airbags are laid at the bottom of the boat. Once inflated, they lift the boat, allowing removal of obstacles below. Then, some airbags at the back are released and the boat is pushed a bit. This is the process of ship launching. Ship launching in the shipbuilding industry is a complex affair. Inland and coastal ships are launched through rail sliding or air bag rolling. Rail sliding requires a slipway or dock and is only feasible for large shipyards due to its high cost. Marine airbags are highly favored by small and medium-sized shipyards as they involve low investment and have a wide range of applications. They are widely used for ship launching and docking in Asian and American countries. More than 80% of new ships with a deadweight of under  60,000 tons  are launched by marine airbags. Launching with air balloons is extremely flexible. Any flat ground with a slight decline can serve as a slipway. Even a bank one or two meters above water level can be used for launching a ship with airbags.

Marine Airbags Material and Structure

  The Luhang marine airbag for ship launching features a designed structure consisting of five functional rubber membranes. It is manufactured using patented whole enlacing technology, ensuring no joints on the cylindrical body and hemispherical heads.

- End fittings: Comprise air tightness swivel and safety air inlet. The airbag has a cylindrical body and two conical heads, equipped with metal bushings and plugs for air inflation.

Size and Performance of our Marine Airbag

  Ship launching airbags can be customized in various sizes and layers depending on ship size, weight, and launching or docking conditions.

  The effective length is ideally equal to the ship's breadth or 1 meter shorter. We can produce airbags from 5m to 24m in length.

  The diameter is chosen according to ship size and work requirements. Larger ships need bigger airbags, and small boats can use smaller ones. For ship bottom cleaning or repair, bigger airbags enable workers to work more comfortably. Diameters of 1.5m, 1.8m, 2m, or 2.5m are suitable for large ships.

  More layers mean greater bearing capacity. To lift a ship to a certain height, sufficient airbags with enough layers are needed. Generally, 6-layer airbags are sufficient for most projects. In some demanding cases, 7 - 8 layers may be required for enhanced performance, such as when lifting heavy caissons with limited contact area, which needs higher pressure and more plies for safety.
