Structure

 

Typically, these fenders are designed in various shapes and sizes to suit different marine needs. Common shapes include cylindrical, rectangular, and cone - shaped. They may also be equipped with additional features such as steel reinforcement bars or attachment points to ensure secure installation on ships or docking structures.

The fender features a distinctive internal structure. In this design, shear loads are absorbed by a steel through-chain arrangement. The load is transferred and terminates at the end-shackles instead of the fender body bearing this load directly.
This design has been carefully engineered. In case of an overload situation, any components within this system that get damaged can be individually replaced. This is a significant advantage compared to other foam fenders. In those fenders, the end-fittings are an essential part of the fender's internal mechanism. If these end-fittings are damaged due to shear forces, it often results in the entire fender being rendered useless and having to be discarded.
